Meet Rabbit Hole Studio
Hello! We’re Rabbit Hole Studio.
We make games that are easy to pick up and relaxing for anyone to enjoy.
Of all the projects we’re currently working on, the first one we’ll be sharing with you is Rabbit Hole: Cozy Animal Farm, an adorable and comforting simulation game!

Following our previous post, Dev’s Diary #1: How "Rabbit Hole" Came to Be, we’d like to share more of our development journey.
This time, we’ll be looking back at some of the twists, turns, and trial and error we experienced along the way.
3D vs. 2D
The earliest version of Rabbit Hole was actually created in 3D—or, to be more exact, 2.5D.
This allowed us to arrange cute 2D characters and objects in a world with a convincing sense of depth and perspective.

The current version of Rabbit Hole is fully 2D, and there are very few traces of its 2.5D beginnings left.
We made the difficult decision to switch because the rabbits’ home didn’t really look like an underground burrow. Instead, it felt more like a world built above ground.

The forest was also so crowded with objects that it no longer felt warm or cozy.
We wanted the game to feel like taking a quiet break in the woods after escaping the noise and pressure of the city.
In the end, we felt that 2.5D didn’t quite match that vision, so we bravely decided to move forward with 2D.
Signs of Construction Above the Burrow
Early in development, the world above the rabbit hole looked less like a quiet forest and more like a bustling town.
Trains chugged by, buses stopped in, and airships even floated through the sky right around our main character Finn’s home! 🎈

Looking back, that busy town was pretty far from the "cozy farm" vibe we wanted.
Just imagine living next to train tracks with airships constantly buzzing overhead—the noise alone would take years off your life!
So, we refocused on what mattered most: coziness and healing.
As we mentioned in Dev's Diary #1, a burrow is a peaceful, safe sanctuary for animal friends—a place where predators can’t reach them.
Even if a blizzard rages, a storm hits, or a scorching heatwave sweeps through the forest above, the rabbit hole underground remains a calm and comfy haven.

(Wait... if that's true, why are some animal friends camping out in the forest despite the bad weather? We'll reveal the secret in our next Dev's Diary!)
Animal Friends
How were the adorable animal friends—the true heart of Rabbit Hole—born?
At the beginning, we researched animals that naturally live in burrows so that they would fit the game’s original concept.
Since then, the family has grown to include many other lovable animals as well.
You’ll be able to invite frogs, sparrows, bears, and all kinds of other animal friends into the rabbit hole.

Even animals of the same species have their own distinct appearance and personality.
One rabbit might have a wonderfully shaggy beard, while another may have a beautiful pattern of spots.

Once you enter the rabbit hole, you’ll be able to watch all of these unique animal friends go about their daily lives.
See if you can find the ones who love to eat—or the ones who are completely obsessed with exercise!

Make the Game Easy to Play
We wanted Rabbit Hole to be even easier and more relaxing to play than other mobile cozy games, which made one-handed play one of our biggest priorities.
To make playing with one hand comfortable, we needed a handy "do-it-all" button right under your thumb while making sure accidental taps didn't trigger unintended actions.

We poured a ton of effort into the main gameplay features—especially designing a simple, intuitive interface for farming and crafting tasty treats like bread and cheese.
After testing countless layout ideas, we finally landed on a design perfectly optimized for one-handed play.

Now you can easily enjoy Rabbit Hole anywhere—even on a crowded train or bus!
Or, better yet, lounging on the couch eating potato chips without getting grease all over your screen! 😉
Closing Thoughts
The entire team at Rabbit Hole Studio is working around the clock, pouring our hearts into making sure the joy you feel in your first 10 minutes of play lasts even a year down the road.
